Another review for a 'verified Twitter account' band! Yay! It's not actually about the verification, but how honored I feel to have these bands following me.
Today's band is The Summer Set.
This band lives and breathes Punk Rock. I'm a HUGGEEE fan of punk rock bands like All Time Low (I know I mention them a lot...), Green Day, My Chemical Romance, just to name a few.
But even before I gave their songs a listen, the first thing I noticed was a female band member! A drummer nonetheless! Finally! A bit more proof that females CAN rock!! #feminism
Anyway, the first song I checked out from them was their new single, 'Fuck U Over'.
First comment? I love Brian Dales' (Vocals) voice. His voice is so unique I can't even place someone who sounds like him. It's different, in a good way. I get the feeling if I ever hear The Summer Set's music on radio, I'd be able to identify them because of Brian's voice.
While Brian Dales' voice has my fan vote and their punk rock beats and tune has gotten my thumbs up, they didn't manage to win my heart in 'Fuck U Over'. I guess I'd prefer to hear a song about someone's heart being broken or a love song as opposed to a song about how a guy fucked a girl over. That being said, as much as I loved the melody, the beats and Brian Dales' voice, I don't think this is going to be The Summer Set's winning single. But I'd have to say some parts of the lyrics in Fuck U Over did give me a few laughs... Maybe the occasional humor in the song would win the hearts of other girls?
Anyway, I'm kind of sold on them with their other songs:
I seriously love their music. Or punk rock. Maybe both. Probably both.
I'd have to say Mannequin got my vote more than Fuck U Over. It's the lyrics I guess... but I do like Fuck U Over's tune more than Mannequin so that's definitely an improvement in their music over time! Time sure does wonders...
So here's where they are on my scale:
It's actually a 3.5, but here's why they got this rating. I may have marked them down A BIT because Fuck U Over didn't win my heart, but I feel that there is so much more potential for The Summer Set to grow. As of now, The Summer Set's tunes are pretty stereotypical for a punk rock band, and I'd really like to hear them try out something different (within or outside of the punk rock genre)
Nonetheless, I love Brian Dales' voice and their rockin female drummer (Jess). Most importantly, I like their music regardless. Of course, I may not be completely sold on it yet, but The Summer Set is definitely a band I would be watching out for.
To The Summer Set: Hey guys! I hope I didn't sound too harsh here, but I was just throwing out what I felt about your music. Hope you won't hate me for this, but in all honesty, you guys are truly great and I seriously believe you have the potential to make it big like All Time Low! xoxo

Music Review: The Icarus Account
When I see a band following me on Twitter, my mind goes 'YAY! More music!"
When I see that it's a verified account, my nerves start tingling... It probably means good music is coming my way.
That's exactly how I felt when I woke up this morning to find a follow from The Icarus Account. In all honesty, the first thing that caught my attention wasn't the fact that they were a band, but this:
Gave me a good laugh when I first saw it. From that moment on, I realized I HAD TO check The Icarus Account out!
Funny pictures aside, I was treated to this lovely acoustic band in the morning when I gave their song 'Favorite Girl' a listen.
It wasn't noisy or too upbeat that would usually piss me off in the morning (I'm usually in need for softer music when I wake up), but also, I really loved the soothing quality of the voice and music in Favorite Girl. Of course, The Icarus Account does have some other songs you should check out:
Then, when I checked out their YouTube page, I found myself pleasantly treated to the numerous covers they've made out of various hit songs by popular artistes. Some of my favorites would definitely include:
Fine, so maybe I put Payphone there because Maroon 5 stays at one of my favorite pop rock bands since FOREVER, but The Icarus Account did make a really great cover out of Payphone. I love Adam Levine's version, but The Icarus Account managed to cover it and make the song theirs. (Praise for it not being a mere copy!)
My personal favorite would definitely be their cover of The Wanted's 'Glad You Came', but nonetheless, I love how they're able to make a song their own whenever they do a cover! Covers of popular songs are usually subject to more criticism, but from the way they managed to pull it off, I'd say they're sounding as good as the actual songs in most of their covers.
If you love acoustic music and bands like Secondhand Serenade, The Icarus Account would be a band you should definitely check out.
That being said, here's what I think about them:
They probably didn't get a 5 because as much as I love what they're doing right now, I feel that they could be better if they tried branching out beyond acoustic and probably into more upbeat music? I guess I didn't give them a 5 because I would really love to hear The Icarus Account go beyond their comfort zone and try out different kinds and genres of music (because I feel that they really are talented enough to do that).
I love acoustic songs, but I know of people who prefer upbeat songs too, so maybe they'll get a bigger fanbase if they try something of that sort? (Think All Time Low or McFly?)
Either way, I still feel that The Icarus Account is a band you should and will love once you give them a shot. They have really great vocals, they're talented with the guitar... What's not to love? I'm definitely a fan of theirs. No questions asked.
PS. They have that many videos because I'm having a hard time deciding which songs I should put up here. BUT, this is merely the tip of the iceberg! Check out their YouTube for more songs!

Music Review: The Mid-Summer Classic
I just realized I forgot the 'Music Review' header in my past 2 reviews, but it's tagged under it so you can still check them out if you haven't.
Today's band seems to be a little more successful than the previous few if I base them purely on their followers and subscribers. Nonetheless, all good, well-deserving bands deserve to get a review!
When I checked out The Mid-Summer Classic's YouTube, the first thing I noticed was this really cute guy, who happens to also be their lead singer, Robert Dobbs. He's my new eyecandy! (He reminds me a bit of Billie Joe from Green Day though...) #cute #eyecandy
Check him out here:
Since this is ultimately a music review, I'm going to get to the music part now. The pop elements in the song are amazing, and I find myself really enjoying the sound of Robert Dobbs' voice (not just his looks). Of course, they do have a few other songs on their YouTube page, and you simply HAVE TO check out the rest of their songs because they're just that wonderful:
I'm completely a fan of The Mid-Summer Classic!
Personally, I love how Robert Dobbs has so much control of his voice, his tone and how he can sound completely different when he goes from Delanie to We Had It All. Also, I love how The Mid-Summer Classic manages to be able to adapt themselves to different genres of music and still sound completely like themselves.
I'd say that The Mid-Summer Classic is one band that sounds really professional and could really make it big out there among bands like All Time Low in the near future. I mean, I'm already prepared to buy their music, their album, you name it (I can't at the moment because I live on this tiny island called Singapore and my iTunes store won't let me buy something from the US store. GRRR..)!
Of course, its no wonder how they managed to get that many followers once you get a glimpse of their music. Not to mention the number of hearts they have captured when you actually see them. Pop and Rock are my two favorite genres in music in the meantime so obviously they'll get a rating of:
Did you honestly think I'd give them any less? I'm loving every song of theirs that I get to hear and the only thing I don't like is not being able to download their music on iTunes!
To The Mid-Summer Classic: I am so glad Robert Dobbs followed me on Twitter so I had a chance to discover what an AMAZING band you are! I'm utterly and completely a fan of yours and I love you guys so so SOOO MUCH! xoxo
Love The Mid-Summer Classic as much as I do? Here's what you can do:

Justin Timberlake suited up.
![]() |
Justin Timberlake used to be hugely popular when he was making music. Then, he captured our hearts in his movies like 'Friends With Benefits' with his crazy good looks and hilarious lines.
Recently, we've been treated to a teaser of Timberlake's thoughts as he ventures back into the world of music with an upcoming album.
From a music junkie's perspective, I was anticipating what Timberlake would produce after his long music hiatus since 2006, especially with the hype from the above video, so I checked out his latest single 'Suit & Tie' the moment it was released on iTunes.
If you haven't heard it yet, listen!
How did you find it? To me, it was a typical Justin Timberlake song and it almost felt as if he hasn't progressed in his music since his last album Future Sex/Love Sounds in 2006. The starting was disappointing and kind of horrible to listen to and the song could have done so much better without Jay-Z in it. The song itself was alright I guess... It's a very typical Justin Timberlake song and doesn't say anything new about him or how he has changed since 2006.
I was disappointed with Lotus by Christina Aguilera (one of the divas whose voices are simply to die for) and it seems like I will be disappointed with Timberlake's new album if everything sounds like Suit & Tie. Is Britney really the only successful one in music after graduating from the Mickey Mouse Club?
If you haven't guessed it yet, my rating for Suit & Tie:
If you're a fan of Timberlake, go ahead and give it a listen, but if you're sourcing for good music in the world today, I'd say forget this song. It isn't worth your time.
My anticipation for Timberlake's upcoming album?
I'm still of the notion that Timberlake could POSSIBLY salvage his new album if the rest of his songs are actually worth listening to and nothing like Suit & Tie.
Nonetheless, Timberlake's still hot even though he's married so here's a picture for those fangirls out there:

I'm getting Ruby Eyes
Seems like following all my favorite bands on Twitter is a good thing because I now have so many other bands/artists to review!
One of the bands I've found is called... you guessed it. Ruby Eyes.
If I had to pick my favorite genre in music, it'd be ROCK, so you got my vote with those hard rock beats from your music, boys.
First thing I do when I review a band is to check out their website, Facebook or YouTube. As long as I get a channel to listen to their music. Ruby Eyes released their debut EP on iTunes mid last year and released their music video for Chance City around that same time frame.
Personally (no offense intended), I feel that the vocals are not strong enough for Chance City and the guitar solo isn't doing it for me. I would have loved the solo a lot better if it was faster... But I must admit, Chance City does have a good riff and beat to it!
In spite of this, I must say I love the lead singer's voice. He reminds me a bit of Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, and yet, the music these two bands produce are relatively different. Although I can say that Chance City isn't one of my favorite songs, Ruby Eyes do have some rather promising songs that I feel you should check out:
Ruby Eyes may not have captured my heart in their music yet, but I'd say that this band does have the potential to make it bigger and better with some fine-tuning to their music. Chance City may not be impressive, but I do find myself liking White Flag Serenade and Social Spasm (and I especially like the guitar solo in White Flag Serenade).
Nonetheless, when you have a band of delicious looking men and a frontman with a great, classic rock voice, I'd give them a
Good, but there's definitely room for improvement.
When it comes to rock music (for me), I like to look out for the frontman's vocals and the guitar solos. I love classic rock and was SOO happy to realize that I can still find bands out there who do produce such kinds of rock music!
For my dearest readers, in spite of what you just read, give their music a real shot! After all, these are just my thoughts and yours could be different!
To the members of Ruby Eyes, I DO like your genre of music and I especially love the voice of your frontman. I believe you can make it big, but these are just some thoughts I penned down when I heard your music. No ill intentions intended! x (PS. I'm sorry I didn't get your names! :x )

Princes Galore. (Voltage Romance Sims)
Ever wondered how it would feel to fall in love with a deliciously handsome looking prince? Wanted to have some time on your hand to read a romance novel and fall in love with the leading guy?
Here's an answer to the problems of the modern day romantic:
What are visual novels?
They're something like manga, but on a smartphone/computer screen! In fact, visual novels are better than your romance novels! Visual novels give you the chance to decide how your story turns out and how the other characters react to your choices in these stories. So finally, us romantics have a say in a romance story!
Late last year, VOLTAGE Inc. released an English version of their game 'BE MY PRINCESS' for iPhone and android users. I've been hooked on their other visual novels, but this one is the one I can't NOT tell you about.
We've always been fed stories of princes and storybook girls turning into princesses when they find their prince (and this could be the cause of the romantics syndrome). BUT we all know not everyone finds a prince and that only exists in stories.
BE MY PRINCESS is exactly the story you need to immerse yourself into a land where everyone gets princes and ends up the princess. With deliciously handsome princes who are sometimes sweet, caring and other times pissing you off, the game provides you a 'realistic' modern storyline with the prince of your choice!
Each story goes at USD$3.99 (1 Story = 1 Prince), but you can try the game out for FREE with the preview of every game going at NO COST!
I've played everything in this application and I can't even decide which prince I like best! They all have such charming, intriguing characters that come with different backgrounds that you'll simply fall in love with each one of them once you start the game! Also, all game characters are drawn like those in Japanese Manga, so they're certified good looking!
Less talk, more charming guys, so here are some scenes you can get as you go through the games!
Then we can trade pointers and tips! hehehe.
Happy playing!

Some tips:
- If you like a sweet guy who's always nice to you, pick Prince Roberto or Prince Edward. Both of them sure know how to be sweet and charming to a girl.
- If you want a story where you end up with your first love, pick Prince Glenn. (It's one of my favorites if you must know)
- If you want a story where your prince only warms up to you after some time, but is actually a really nice guy, pick Prince Wilfred
- If you want the bad boy of the bunch, the one who mocks you and pisses you off on a regular basis, pick Prince Keith (he turns out nice in the end...)
- If you want the prince who's really caring but just never learnt how to be close to someone before, pick Prince Joshua (MY FAVORITE!!! and he's the prince with purple hair. Most good looking one in my books...)
Then we can trade pointers and tips! hehehe.
Happy playing!
