Makeup Review: Diorshow Iconic Overcurl

Diorshow Iconic Overcurl is a relatively new mascara in the market with it being out sometime earlier this year. (I'm pretty sure its either February or March)

How I ended up with this new mascara? Well, I told my mom I needed a new mascara (although I have my Maybelline Falsies Mascara) and this was exactly what she got me!

I must admit, Usually I leave mascara out because eyelashes are such beautiful, yet fragile things. They're one of the most important features of us girls (or me), and I really don't want them to fall in number because of mascara overuse.

So usually, I leave the house looking like this (at least, and on a makeup day):

When I first saw the mascara, this one word stopped me. 'RINSABLE'
If there's one bad thing about mascaras, it's definitely one that smudges A LOT. and rinsable really doesn't bode well...

BUT, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl really left me with no worries and completely satisfied once I started using it!
The curved brush really allowed easy application that gives these really thick, lengthened eyelashes... and here's the best part: IT DOESN'T CLUMP! This fact was enough to make me like this mascara, but as the day went on, this mascara left me IN LOVE with it.
Apart from it not clumping, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl lasted me the entire day (without any additional application) without smudging! Not only that, with its 'rinsable' property, it becomes really easy to remove at the end of the day!

Diorshow Iconic Overcurl is truly the mascara I'm in love with. Although it doesn't give me the length falsies would have been able to, I think this mascara is awesome enough to wear on any day.

Makeup Review: Lancome Liner Plume

I'm no make-up extraordinaire, but liquid liners are one of my best make-up companions since the day I started putting on make-up. Since then, I've tried my fair share of liquid liners and it includes the Lancome Liner Plume.

 Over the Lunar New Year, I decided to put Lancome Liner Plume out of exile and started using this again. (I haven't used it since the US trip.)

The thing I love in this liner is the black. It's a very dark black that definitely accentuates your eyes the moment you put it on. (Tip: Black will make your eyes harsher too, so watch the amount of it!)

The bad thing is, I'm a very impatient person. I like to do things quickly, so the soft brush of the liner (that guarantees it won't do much harm to the soft skin around your eyes) did not do it for me. AKA, I couldn't get a fast, straight line on my lid. Personally, I would prefer a sharper and slightly stiffer tip, but I would say this liner still does its job when I take care into doing my eyes!

How I feel about this liner:

I actually kinda love it! While its not going to be one I'll be using whenever I'm in a rush, I do love the black of the ink and it's not like it doesn't fulfill its purpose! Just remember to take care when you're drawing using this mascara!

Lunar New Years

I'm sorry for not posting often enough nowadays! Don't kill me?

I've always enjoyed my fair share of Chinese New Years (I'm Singaporean Chinese for those who have no clue!) but this year, it hardly even felt like the lunar new year because I FELL SICK! WTF.
Not to mention a fever on the first night of the new year! (fine I admit, I may have taken some goodies in spite of my sore throat and headache...)

Anyway, the difference is the lack of photos of me on the first day since I felt as if my head was splitting in two.

Day 1

I only did it for the first day, but if anyone's interested:

Evidently, I prefer my mom's side of the family (ie. see my cousies on Day 1), not that I mentioned it before.

Before the Lunar New Year, I was preparing for a barrage of rude questions and comments that range from 'You need to lose weight!' to 'How do you not have a boyfriend? You're old enough!' since it has long been a Singaporean tradition where the older generation have long had the autonomy to ask such awkward, rude questions.

Instead, I found myself with a barrage of compliments like:
'You're all grown up.', 'You're pretty.', 'You're so beautiful.', to others like 'Pamela's very photogenic' (from Grandaddy) and 'Pamela should try to be an actress! She'll earn a lot from endorsements then!' (from mommy's aunt to her).

I was a loss of how to react to compliments, but clearly happy about them. hehe.

Promises

I told myself that I was going to try out falsies again this weekend. (For both CNY and this blog) and I'm going to blog a lot so that I can post more stuff this upcoming week. I'm still on my way towards churning more good posts out, and I do hope everyone will still be patient with me when I can't blog much. (Especially so when school decides to give me a thrashing in full force.)

This past week has been helluva hectic and I've barely felt it pass.

I had my first critique/workshopping class - which was nerve-wrecking - and I think I did pick up some pointers from it!

Initially, I was completely mortified at the idea of my piece being up for critique that I posted it up on my blog to get (more) feedback before I headed to class. From that post, I realized how I can find such an AMAZING circle of writers who'd give me all the constructive feedback - and motivation -to help me write better. (PS. This refers to everyone who read my piece from the 'Writer's Discussion Group' on Google+ and Glipho. I have no idea how I would have felt if I hadn't received all the helpful feedback from everyone.)

So, with my expectations of how the class would react, I headed for class that day... Only to realize how my peers receive my piece differently from how I perceived it and the critique I received previously. I wasn't too sure if the comments on my piece being somewhat like 'Alice In Wonderland' was a good thing or not, and they did give me some other pointers, but overall, I felt that it was a great experience. There's always room for improvement!

Now, to a lighter topic!
Since I had falsies on, I decided to play with looks!

This is my 'hip hop'/stone faced look. I'm not pointing fingers, just saying how I think I look like.

Compared to the previous pair of lashes I wore, these were thicker, so they're a bit harder to put on. However, I do like both pairs so I can't choose. The first one was a more natural look, but this pair was thicker and sexier (but occasionally gave me the sleepy look).

  

 I have no idea why my hair looks blonde in the pictures, but I must admit, I kinda love it. Maybe I should have 5 colors in my hair next time. *starts singing to 'Five Colors in Her Hair by McFly*

Eventful Week.

I know it's been all reviews, movie news and fashion recently, but nonetheless, this is still my blog.
Like the title says, this week has been an eventful week. I've made a couple of new friends, got the modules I wanted (and timeslots for most)...

Some special things to note would be..

1. Me conquering FALSIES.

Fine. Laugh at the idiot. I never knew how to put falsies until now. Initially, I was thinking if I should do up a post called 'Falsies for Idiots', but I think that day wasn't a good day. Besides, I used glitter on my tearduct/bottom lid and clearly I don't pull the bottom glitter look well. I'm the dark eyeliner kind of girl! HA!

2. Thank You Notes

Of course, with my reviews, it's great when a band replies back to tell me that they loved the review! Makes me feel good as someone who reviews music and also feel that my efforts are recognized! Below are some of the bands who have given me credits and thanked me for the reviews:

I can't be more thankful that they appreciated the reviews even though I'm just starting out as a blogger. It's always good to be recognized and encouraged. I can tell everyone that.

3. JOHN VESELY FROM SECONDHAND SERENADE IS FOLLOWING ME!!

To be fair, nature did not take this course. I actually did what every fangirl would do and asked him to follow me multiple times on Twitter. HEY! Don't judge. It worked. And it was the happiest day of my life. Best thing bout that morning's that John followed me, Could it be that this was meant to happen now? (hehehe. try singing the previous sentence and tweet me its title...) I don't need it to be night to fall for him over again. I'm doing it every minute of my life. I LOVEEE Secondhand Serenade and I LOVEEE John Vesely. (Maybe I'll do a post on Secondhand Serenade...)

3. VERIFIED BANDS ON TWITTER FOLLOWING ME

As per my usual, I'm going to do reviews on them even though they're verified. I love these bands (since I've listened to them, so do wait for their posts! Or check them out yourselves if you have the time!) I'm not talking much about them for now, but I will be in their music reviews soon so you'll hear everything I have to say then. Till then, wait.

4. A CONCERT THEATRE IS FOLLOWING ME!!!

 It doesn't get cooler than this. I have The Roxy Theatre on my followers list! Since I don't really live in Hollywood, I first heard of The Roxy on The Voice when Adam Levine mentioned how he didn't like The Roxy. But since Adam Levine doesn't read this blog and doesn't even know of its existence, and beggars can't be choosers, I love the fact that they're following me!

So you see, this week has been crazy eventful. Where I got happy most of the days, reaffirmed some things about myself, made a few new friends, and reacquainted myself with some others I haven't seen since the holidays.
