Smart Leather

Today's Outfit:
Black Blazer with Leather Sleeves from Forever 21 (see similar here)
Monochrome Color Block Chiffon Blouse from Forever 21 (see similar here)
Retro Round Sunglasses from ASOS (see similar here)
Electric Blue Bandage Skirt from H&M (see similar here)
Shaggy Deer iPad Case from Stella McCartney (see here)
Assorted Rings from Lovisa
Bandage Wedges from Guess

Two of my favorite things in fashion have got to be blazers and leather. When those two come together... I know I HAVE TO have that fashion piece, and that's exactly what happened here. I'm on a student's budget, and yet.. I had to have this blazer the instant I set my eyes on it.

Instead of my usual grunge style, I realized that the leather gave this blazer and edge, but ultimately, it is still a blazer. Which means it's kind of classy.

So, the best way to put this outfit together would have been to adopt the monochrome trend that's all the rage this Spring. If you noticed the electric blue bandage skirt... Well, I just think the outfit needed something else to make it stand out. Which the skirt totally did by the way.

A touch of color from the skirt and my rings gave this outfit more dimensions, which is really great because it doesn't make me come off as too gloomy or seem as if I'm attempting to blend in.

ALSO, I really decided to go with the jacket trend (on the runway AND in fashion week street fashion) where everyone simply throws on their jackets without actually wearing them. Admittedly, it was hard to go about setting my timer when I had so little space to move my arms in, but I think it adds this really chic, sophisticated look to the entire outfit as opposed to wearing the blazer as per usual.

Hope you liked this look!
PS. forgive me for the different picture widths. I resized my pictures wrongly! T^T

Oz The Great and Powerful

I'm a movie fanatic. I love watching movies, and since this week is Recess Week, there is ONE movie that I've been dying to watch since I first saw the trailer:

I've always loved the Spiderman Trilogy (although it veered away from the original) and I got really psyched when I heard that Sam Raimi (Director of the Spiderman Trilogy) directed Oz The Great and Powerful as well!

The best reason I can have for wanting to watch this is probably because it's by Disney. Yes, I'm doing the Disney talk again. Disney has been the producer of a lot of my favorite films that have accompanied me throughout the years. From Jungle Book, to The Little Mermaid, to The Lion King and more recently, Wreck-It Ralph, Disney has never disappointed me when it comes to the movie department.

I'm a Disney girl. What more reason do I need to watch this movie?!

In fact, I'm so inspired by Oz The Great and Powerful that I did a (mini) outfit post to suit this movie! (as you can see from the start of the post)

The Oscar Diggs Outfit:
Mini Briefcase from Dionne (Birthday Gift, so I have no clue where to get it!)
Long Blazer from Forever 21
Spaghetti Strap from Forever 21
Black Polka-Dot Bowtie from Forever 21
Round Sunglasses from ASOS

The quirky dressing in the movie really prompted me to give a twist on my own version of Oz The Great and Poweful. Since I've never really been a girly girl, I decided to take on the role of Oscar Digs (the female version), completing the look with a bowtie and briefcase.

I couldn't find a top hat at home when I was shooting, so I tried out the 'sock' bun to give my head a boost in place of Oscar Diggs' (Wizard of Oz) hat.

PLUS, I really noticed how Oscar Diggs helped this brave doll (called China Doll) and she started following him around, so I used my Joker Teddy to substitute to China Doll! I think my Teddy adds a bit of an eerie-feel and more of the movie into my outfit! Hm. Seems like Teddy's a good fashion accessory...

Aww. I love you Teddy. You're not just a prop.

As for how much I want to watch this movie:

It's off the charts!
With its Alice in Wonderland-like graphics and snippets of action scenes, the trailer already did a great job of trapping me in the version of Oz they created, and I can't wait to immerse myself in Oz and Oscar Diggs' journey once the movie hits theaters!

If you're living on a little red dot like I am, Oz The Great and Powerful will be in cinemas 7 MARCH. Mark the date on your calender NOW! This movie is a MUST-WATCH.

In the meantime, I'm flying in my balloon to Oz.

Bring out the big ones. (Spring Fashion 2013 - Paris/Milan/NY)

I've given my take on what trends are coming for us this spring, but I've only covered New York's fashion week.

Paris and Milan are two other areas where fashion is prominent. So prominent that they're practically breeding grounds for fashion designers and the perfect shopping ground for us, fashion lovers.
As I  continue to see minimal accessorizing and monochrome coordinates strutted down the runways of Paris and Milan during the Spring 2013 Fashion Week, here's one other thing I've noticed. The jackets (I included some from NY Fashion Week too!).

Point I'm trying to drive here is, Big jackets and coats are staying this spring! Winter may be over, but our designers are still in favor of a beautiful coat or jacket this coming season. Being a hugely obsessive individual when it comes to outerwear, I am completely in love with the whole big, oversized jackets and coats that are coming to us this spring!

Now its time for all of us to step into our closets and dig up our big boyfriend/over -sized jackets and coats so we'd all be ready for spring!

PS. I know this is a really short post, but I promise I'm trying to keep up with all that I've missed this week!

xoxo.

The BLAZics. Sugarplummed. (Part 2)

In this part of The BLAZics series (read part one here), I'll show you all the sweeter, girlier styles you can get from this wardrobe basic, The Blazer.

The schoolgirl is a timepiece classic that everyone CAN take on. It's sweet, innocent and can be girly. Who says school uniforms are boring?
Navy Blazer with Crest from Forever 21
Black spaghetti strap from Forever 21
Yellow lace bandage skirt from ASOS
Vintage gold earrings from Qoo10.sg
Gold chain necklace from Forever 21

Tip #1: Sometimes throwing on a bright colored piece of clothing/accessory can make your entire outfit that much more outstanding!

This next look is one I absolutely LOVE. It's perfect for a day out AND perfect for you to wear on dates. It's clean, chic and trendy.

Cream Blazer from Forever 21
Cream spaghetti strap from Forever 21
Red hearts all over shorts from ASOS
Gold chain necklace from Forever 21
Red gem earrings from Qoo10.sg
Gold cross ring from Lovisa
Red lips ring from Diva
Black shades from ASOS

Think that outfit is a little too sophisticated for you? Change up the gold for some colorful beads to wear on your neck or your hands!

Colorful beaded necklaces/bracelet from China

Tip #2: Nothing determines what an accessory is. Switch up your necklace and turn it into a beautiful set of bracelets by coiling it around your hand!

You don't need to be sweet with hearts and lace! Prints can give you that same sugarplum, sweet look, with an edge!
Pink Blazer from Cotton On
Black spaghetti strap from Forever 21
Jade green earrings from Forever 21
Gold cross ring from Lovisa
Orange tiger print bandage skirt from Supre

Tip #3: Color contrasts in an outfit is good! Just don't mix too many colors into it, you don't want to look like a clown!

And everyone's favorite... Leopard prints!
Multicolored leopard print bandage skirt from Supre
Sapphire blue dangling earrings from Forever 21
Colorful beaded necklaces from China

Be that charming, sweet girl or the edgy sugarplum with some of the looks I have created above!
There's one last post in this series and it's coming up soon! Do check out this space for it and more fashion posts and other tidbits of my life!

In the meantime, stay safe sugarplums!
